A grand Kasalang Abukeño was held Wednesday at the Country Pool Villas in Abucay, Bataan last Thursday. The event was officiated by Mayor Robin C. Tagle and supported by Municipal Civil Registrar Edgardo Ventura and other officials.
The ceremony was attended by 60 couples who exchanged vows in a meaningful and joyous ceremony. The Kasalang Abukeño, according to Mayor Tagle, was a testament to the unity and love within the community.
Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman graced the occasion as Principal Sponsor. Congresswoman Roman gave gifts such as cash, rice cookers, electric fans, and more to the newlyweds.
Mayor Robin Tagle also showed his dedication to strengthening every household in his jurisdiction by giving each family starting their new life a sack of rice. Councilor Tikboy Soriano, PSA representative, and LGU Abucay employees also participated in this extraordinary event to show their support.
Kasalang Bayan is a cultural tradition in the Philippines where couples who cannot afford to have a grand wedding are given the opportunity to exchange vows and receive a formal marriage contract in a group ceremony. The concept of Kasalang Bayan has been part of the country’s cultural heritage for decades, and it is still prevalent in different parts of the country today.
